I forgot to mention that all this back sleeping stuff came from the NEW
ZEALAND cot death studies a few years back. But one must also remember that
almost all infants in New Zealand and Australia are placed on comfy sheep
skins which most of N. Americans are not, this thick wool must in some way
impact face down sleeping, we're just overbundled, isolated, smoked around
and NOT BREASTFED!!!! I must mention my cyanotic heart baby TC was only
placed on his stomach when he wasn't in our arms which turned out to be the
safest most accurate and cheapest apnea monitor (my son also had an airway
defect from birth called redundancy of the aritynoids which made his
oxygenation even more difficult).
I still can't believe the BIGGEST PUSH for SIDS prevention is
position, when there are MUCH MORE POTENT MITIGATING FACTORS R/T SIDS that
must have greater impact on the entire lifetime of an infant. When does the
next boat to MALI leave.....? love, to all those poor innocent souls who
get left alone.
