I have found it most helpful to ask the mother what she wants to do when we are discussing various ways to solve her problem. If she doesn't own the problem, it won't get solved. Sometimes we arrange a care plan that isn't what I would choose and I feel won't really solve her problem, but then anything else mom won't do (be compliant). I might suggest something and document what I suggested but sometimes the LC has to back off. Sometimes it is an emotional issue. The other thing I do with non-compliant clients is to document, document, document.
