Dettwyler's two postings on Aug 15, one from Diane Karnbach Aug 16, and
Joy Anderson Oct 27.  I also refer you to Klonoff-Cohen HS, et al, "The
effect of passive smoking and tobacco exposure through breast milk on
sudden infant death syndrome", which although doing a wonderful job of
establishing the relationship between SIDS and passive smoking and also
confirming the protection conferred by breastfeeding, purported to show
that the breastfeeding protection did not happen if mothers smoked (they
had an extremely small sample of smoking breastfeeding mothers, did not
bother to check whether these mothers smoked while breastfeeding or left
the room, supplemented, but still concluded that smoking mothers should not
breastfeed - a contention which I hotly disagreed with in a letter to the
