Greetings,

I share a similar experience with many of you regarding bringing nursing babies
to work. While conducting a major statewide training, I brought my 5 month old
daughter. My dear friend and her 10 year old daughter were there to help with
the baby and other details.

State administrators were very cooperative. I informed them from the beginning,
my baby and I are a package deal. The director of the MCH Branch of the Dept.
of Health felt this was a great opportunity for positive modeling.

Some professionals who participated were very upset (negative comments on
evaluation re: baby's presence). They felt I was unprofessional because the
baby was with me, they were offended by the constant opening and closing of my
blouse and all the baby stuff that was in the room.

Imagine their concern when I demonstrated hand expression!!

Babies and moms go together.
