I find this to be a rather startling and disturbing comment. First, it makes
assumptions about the mother. Secondly, it assumes that separation from mom
is normal. The average dad does not spend 8 hours a day with his child and
has no need to spend overnights with that child if it means depriving the
child of the mother. What we have here is a situation (like so many) where a
couple decides mom will stay home in the best intersts of the baby--daycare
is intentionally not chosen. Then the father walks out and turns everything
upside down--now separation from the mom is okay, b /c he wants what he
wants.  Suddenly, the best interests of the baby are less important than the
will of the father. A mother who is desperate to maintain her child's
well-being should not be accused of trying to damage the relationship with
the dad.
