Hi, I'm Gail Hertz, (I wrote the little green breastfeeding book) and my
disclaimer is that I own Pocket Publications.
I can't resist adding my 2 cents.
Hospital policies are just that... policies that serve the best interests
of the hospital. They, however, are not created deliberately in an attempt
to disrupt breastfeeding [despite the fact that they do]. The people who
created them are most likely CLUELESS about the mechanics/benefits/big
picture regarding breastfeeding. They could probably benefit from some
education... about breastfeeding ...about patient satisfaction or lack
thereof ... about negative publicity - perhaps on a larger scale than just
locally - and how that affects stock prices ...about insurance companies
who receive multiple letters of complaint about a facility's policies...

When it becomes in the hospital's best interest to change the policy - they
will have no hesitation in doing so. They just need some education.

Pocket Publications Thought for today --- Why is it
that if we have a project that takes
40 Mapheliah Road six hours to complete and we put it
off to the deadline we can finish it
York PA 17402-8214 in 2 hours? .........Because it's
never too late to do a bad job.
