I've used a chopsticks analogy for babies who nurse virtually all the time
because of poor milk transfer: What if you could eat only with chopsticks
and only a few grains of rice at a time? How much of your time would you
have to spend eating to stay fed? How would you react when someone took the
bowl and chopsticks away? Would eating be a really satisfying experience?

As the mother pulls out of her low supply, or improves her positioning, or
gets the frenulum clipped - whatever the problem was - seeing her baby get
rid of the chopsticks is one of the milestones we celebrate. (Apologies to
those of us who do better with chopsticks than with a fork...)
