Lisa:

Briggs( Briggs freeman and Yaffe- Drugs in Preg & Lact) site an 89 report of
two cases where neonates - 48 hrs and 6 wks were given IV fluconizole (
diflucan). they state: " The dagety of fluconazole during rbeastfeeding canot
be completely extrpolated from these casesm but the dose administered to
these inffants far exceed the amount they would have received via brastmilk.
....fluconzole is probably safe to use during breastfeeding".
(p370-371)

Dr. Hale states that fluconazole "is routinely used in neonatal nurseries"
p.97-98

of note: peak plasma concentration is between 1&2 hours with terminal
plama elimination half life of approximately 30 hours. steady state is
reached witin 5-10 days folowing oral does of 50 - 400 mg given once a day. A
loading does of twice the ususla daily results in plasma concentrations
closer to steady state by day 2. plasma protien binding is 11-12%.
floconazole is cleared primarily bu renal excreation with appros 80%
appearing in urine as un changed drug.

         lisa I hope this helps.
