The WHO has newborn protocols that advise against bathing for at least the
first 6 hours for all the reasons Donna Goggin names (and which advise the
avoidance of any routine suctioning as well ).  In some hospitals, they've
always bathed immediately to remove mother's suspicious "body fluids" so
that some gloving routines can be avoided..grrrr!
