Dear Friends:
I would love if there was a milk bank in every large city and never any
formula anywhere.
"Improving" the alternative ensures that the original method will never
get all the support it deserves, at least with infant feeding.
Makes me think of the new genetically engineered tobacco, that is
supposed to be "healthier." Seems like a way for folks to justify their
choice. Just like the new "improved" formulae.
It bothers me when I recommend Good Start, but I do because it is the
only formula with any research behind it: that 5-year Chandra study, that was
in JPGN in the late 90's. (After human milk, Good Start had the least amount
of atopic symtoms. ) I would love to send those moms to a milk bank, but at
present, that isn't easy or feasible.
     Sigh.
     Warmly,
Nikki Lee RN, MSN, Mother of 2, IBCLC, CIMI, CCE
