There are 2.2 pounds per kilogram (1000 gms), so a 4000 gm baby weighs about
8 pounds 13 ounces.  (Thanks to my son the math whiz--and he only bf 18
months!)

Carol (whose son once again is asking why do I talk about him to 1200
people!)
