On 18 Jan 2008 Janice Reynolds posted the URL for an article on the consanguinity of "milk siblings" in Islamic (and some other) cultures.

This reminded me that I need to mention on Lactnet my current research, which I am on target to wrap up in February. I am examining the mothers' experience of cross-feeding ("cross-nursing") in Australia, 1972-2007. That is, sharing the breastfeeding of a baby or babies, or providing EBM for the child of a sister or friend. I want to include the experiences of Moslem women in Australia, and the religious and cultural importance of the milk sibling relationship. However, so far I don't have any respondents from this community, probably because the several email discussion lists which have carried information about my study reach predominently other demongraphic groups.
Please note: 1) my study is restricted to cross-feeding that occurred *in Australia*, irrespective of where the mothers originally lived; 2) I am closing it in February. I wonder if anyone on Lactnet is able to provide my email address to an eligible mother. I can then explain the study to her, explain confidentiality, etc.
