The Twelve Days of Breastfeeding

On the first day of breastfeeding, my true love gave to me… a sweet, tiny,
blissful baby.

On the second day of breastfeeding, my true love gave to me… some breast
tenderness, and a sweet, tiny, blissful baby.

On the third day of breastfeeding, my true love gave to me… searing pain on
the left, some breast tenderness, and a sweet, tiny, blissful baby.

On the fourth day of breastfeeding, my true love gave to me… a visit from a
girlfriend, who said the pain would soon end, searing pain on the left, some
breast tenderness, and a sweet, tiny, blissful baby.

On the fifth day of breastfeeding my true love gave to me… two giant
milk-filled breasts (which did not fill at the same time to my surprise), a
visit from a girlfriend, searing pain, some breast tenderness, and a sweet,
tiny, blissful baby.

On the sixth day of breastfeeding my true love gave to me… my first ever
milk stasis, two very large breasts, a visit from a girlfriend, searing
pain, some breast tenderness, and a sweet, tiny, blissful baby.

On the seventh day of breastfeeding my true love gave to me, a visit from a
La Leche League leader, who told me I should cue feed her, my first ever
milk stasis, two very large breasts, a visit from a girlfriend, searing
pain, some breast tenderness, and a sweet, tiny, blissful baby.

On the eighth day of breastfeeding my true love gave to me… the awkward
question why I shot milk in his eye, a visit from a La Leche League leader,
who told me I should cue feed her, my first ever milk stasis, two very large
breasts, a visit from a girlfriend, searing pain, some breast tenderness,
and a sweet, tiny, blissful baby.

On the ninth day of breastfeeding my true love gave to me… a visit from the
IBCLC, who said to count the pee, the awkward question why I shot milk in
hubby’s eye, a visit from a La Leche League leader, who told me I should cue
feed her, my first ever milk stasis, two very large breasts, a visit from a
girlfriend, searing pain, some breast tenderness, and a sweet, tiny,
blissful baby.

On the tenth day of breastfeeding, my true love gave to me… one
maid-a-milking (that’s me), a visit from the IBCLC, who said to count the
pee, the awkward question why I shot milk in hubby’s eye, a visit from a La
Leche League leader, who told me I should cue feed her, my first ever milk
stasis, two very large breasts, a visit from a girlfriend, searing pain,
some breast tenderness, and a sweet, tiny, blissful baby.

On the eleventh day of breastfeeding my true love gave to me… one
lord-a-leaping (that’s hubby), one maid-a-milking (that’s me), a visit from
the IBCLC, who said to count the pee, the awkward question why I shot milk
in hubby’s eye, a visit from a La Leche League leader, who told me I should
cue feed her, my first ever milk stasis, two very large breasts, a visit
from a girlfriend, searing pain, some breast tenderness, and a sweet, tiny,
blissful baby.

On the twelve day of breastfeeding my true love gave to me… one mammoth
release of endorphins… and…ummmm…uh… and a sweet, tiny, blissful baby.
