I wonder if the "weaning-induced involution" was gradual or abrupt.  In my 
personal experience, abrupt weaning is definitely associated with 
inflammation while gradual weaning after prolonged breastfeeding was 
hardly noticeable--another reason to breastfeed into the 3-4 year range.  
Don't get too upset by the study until you look at all the confounding 
factors.  I tried to download it, but I'm not a subscriber.  Were you able 
to read the study?  How was weaning induced?  Naturally? Or abruptly?  
Wouldn't it be interesting if we learned that abrupt weaning leads to this 
problem, while gradual weaning (i.e., no associated inflammation) has no 
effect?  Or possibly a beneficial effect?  Maybe . . .
