Dear colleagues,

A while ago, a lot was going on with regard to a study that supposedly ‘discovered’ that breastfeeding would be a risk for the development in children more likely to get asthma.
After that study there was quite some discussion on how the design was not correct.
Does anyone know whether this study was officially flawed and where I could find a decent critique on it?
I searched the archives for ‘asthma’, but that did not give what I need, I think.

My... I’m always so impressed with those who know where to look and who come up with useful stuff.
I really don’t know where to start and where I would be able to find the right study and the counter-comments... :-(
There are people in the Netherlands promoting earlier introduction of solids referring to this study, so we need to point out the flaws.

Bye,

Marianne Vanderveen IBCLC, Netherlands
