it wouldn't make any difference if pres. clinton had gotten every single
american to stand up and take the breastfeeding pledge personally "cross my
heart and hope to die if babies get formula from such as i" or whatever, as
long as there is not legislation to support enforcement of the code, it means
nothing. american institutions in general seem unimpressed by the statements
made by such groups as WHO and so forth; we are the center of the universe,
don't you know? we don't advice easily from others. most people are more
concerned, a la ronald reagan, with protecting the "rights" of corporation to
make a profit.
