I know I am coming in on the tail end of this discussion, but I thought you
might like to know that the British government commissioned a big statistical
survey on 'Infant Feeding In Asian Families' (in Britain) -- published in 1997.
Its a huge document, full of tables and graphs, done by four interviews
covering the first 15 months of the children's life. The four groups surveyed
were mothers of Indian, Pakistani and Bangladeshi origin (I don't know if you
differentiate between these groups in the US) and a group of white British women
who live in the same geographical areas as the Asian women.

One fascinating finding was that the mothers of Indian origin were more similar
to
white mothers in many feeding practices than they were to the other Asian women.
These cultural groups have very different histories in terms of assimilation to
British life, class origins, etc., etc.
