Dear Lactnetters:
    There is a website being prominently promoted on AOL for information on
"Health Topics." This site, "AOL HEALTH"  <A
HREF="aol://4344:115.dk_kw.1508212.621268330">drkoop.com</A>  uses the banner
heading :
"The Best Prescription is Knowledge."
I just did a complete search of this site and found that the only information
available on breastfeeding:1) can only be accessed by a search (no heading
shown) and 2) Includes only current news articles without editorial comment.
    I just sent the following letter to their editorial staff at
[log in to unmask]  I hope many of you will see fit to write and bring this
to their attention.

I just pulled up your site for the first time and was dismayed to find no
information or position on breastfeeding (except for news articles). In light
of the AAP statement on breastfeeding, the WHO initiative and the current
surge in breastfeeding rates, this seems a glaring omission. I am a Lactation
Consultant at Pennsylvania Hospital in Philadelphia, where breastfeeding is
the norm. Over 71% of our new mothers breastfeed. Yet, if expectant parents
look to your site for basic information on benefits to Mom and baby, the is
none. I sincerely hope this oversight will be corrected quickly.
Breastfeeding deserves the support and promotion of the entire medical
community.
