I never allow my children to play with the toys in a doctor's office. I
don't know how often they are cleaned, if at all. If you have an
appointment to see a doctor with a young child, ring ahead just before
you are going to leave and ask if the doctor is on schedule or running
behind. The receptionist/nurse will usually then be able to give you
some idea of when to arrive, I do this all the time and it really cuts
down on unnecessary waiting. When you do go make sure that you have
packed a favourite toys and books, such as pencils and colouring books,
favourite story etc, that you know will keep the child occupied for a
period of time, also pack some yummy snacks and drinks. I have three
children and I always pack for any contingency, I usually overdo it a
bit but then at least my children and I have a more comfortable wait.
