Hello to all,

This is the first time I am posting to Lactnect although I have been
reading all the discussions especially the one about breastfeeding in
public places.

Last evening when I was out with the children at the club, as I was waiting
I noticed a mother breastfeeding her 1 year old. Since we had spoken
previously about other things, I thought I would compliment her for her
effort. She responded that this was her third child and she was now very
comfortable breastfeeding in public. I asked her if she has ever been
asked to stop breastfeeding and she said "no". She was also surprised to
learn that some women have been asked to stop. She also stated that she is
happy to breastfeed in public because she can be an example to other women
that it can be done. I left the club feeling very positive about this
experience and hoped that more women would have such a positive attitude.

My son's claim to fame is that he breastfed on The Great Wall of China.

Onto the Nestle boycott:

I have tried to boycott Nestle as best I can and have tried to educate my
family, especially my children, regarding the injustices and explain why I
do not buy Nestle products. I realised how strong my message has been when
my daughter, who turned 5 years old last Sunday, said to me as I was
putting her to bed Sunday night that at her birthday party at her
grandparents, she only had cake but no ice-cream since it was Nestle ice-
cream and she doesn't eat Nestle products. My son agreed with his sister
and said that he wanted Bryers' or President Choice (brand of a local
supermarket) for his birthday this Friday. As much as we sometimes wonder
if our children listen, they are! So, keep up the education and as
difficult as it is sometimes, stick to your principles.
