I am using this E-Mail through my husband's computer from work. His
name is Paul Horner but the question is coming from Karen. I recently
received a question from a new mother in one of my childbirth classes.
She is successfully breastfeeding her 3 week old son and would like to
have her hair colored. She called to ask if there would be any harm to
the baby from the chemicals used when coloring hair. I looked through
the breastfeeding texts that I have and could not find any information.
I do not ever remember reading anything on this topic either. I am
pretty sure that these chemicals would not get into breastmilk but would
like to know if anyone has any thoughts on the subject or knows where I
might find some information.
                              Thanks for your help,
Karen Horner RN, BSN, CCE, IBCLC
