Pat,
   My guess about the abx treatment is that maybe the institution or the
Ob has had an experience when the baby developed an overwhelming strep
sepsis.  I work at a hospital with a very high delivery rate (9672 last
year).  We have had a few deaths (2or3 in my 22 years there) and
probably some babies with bad sequelae.  If I were the doc all it would
take is one of those to always treat.
   I also agree with you and Kim that we should include our country in
the signature.  Is there more than one Milwaukee in the world?
