stress, with children that they want to protect, and there are probably lots
of things they wish their kids didn't have to see: other kids with scars or
bandages or amputations or no hair or tubes sticking out of their noses."

Jessica Swimeley, the mother in this situation is under a lot of stress and
has a child she wants to protect, too. And she spent the weekend under even
more stress, after being shamed and threatened into nursing her child in her
room (she did comply with the order while awaiting the Monday afternoon
meeting with RMH administrators), worrying that she would lose her
accommodations at RMH for feeding and comforting her child in the way he has
come to expect. Many people who don't breastfeed or support breastfeeding
moms don't get that there isn't a substitution in a situation like this and
they won't ever understand unless this stories are (repeatedly) brought to
light. The RMH staff should have explained to the complaining father that
this is how this mom comforts her child. His complaint should not have even
been brought to Jessica Swimeley's attention.
