Beautiful analogy, and I know exactly what you mean, Christine.  This is the
expression I have been blindly grasping for, almost the way a baby tries to
grasp such a nipple.  Thanks for sharing it!
I was asked once by a colleague (during a discussion of the 'necessity' for
silicone breast shields in order to get day old babies to attach-- to the
shield, alas): 'But what about women who simply don't HAVE nipples?'
I finally figured out that this mythical woman was the model for Barbie.
Barbie has NO nipples.  She doesn't give birth like other women either, come
to think of it.
How DO organ stops arise from nipples?  Jean Cotterman, are you there?  I
wonder whether they are a normal anatomic variation or the result of
specific forms of pulling/stretching.
