I am working with a mom and her baby girl. Baby has recently received her
second shunt adjustment for hydrocephalus. She is breastfeeding, supplementing
with SNS and high calorie formula due to excessive weight loss and needing to
catch back up, also mother's supply is still low and she is working on that
too. The question is will the hydrocephalus interfere with the baby
breastfeeding effectively? At this time we are still only in phone contact. She has been
in and out of the hospital and the NICU RN IBCLC is awesome! and she has been
in good hands. I don't see anything in the archives at all, and just wonder
if there is any information available I can share with her. She heard
'somewhere' that her baby's condition could affect suck and she wants to know if that
is true, and what can be done about it.

Thanks much,
Pam MazzellaDiBosco, IBCLC
