Obviously, some people don't mind calls in the middle of the night, but I
think that the idea of having moms calling in the day time is one way to
limit burn-out and job dissatisfaction.

In my opinion, not too many volunteers and their families appreciate those
late night calls. I think it is unfair to bash someone who speaks
practically about the hassles of late night phone calls. Where I live, we
request mothers to call in the daytime (9 am to 6 pm) unless it is an
emergency. This has improved "job satisfaction" among local Leaders and
their families.

And, yes, the LLLI 1-800 number is open 24 hours a day (when there are
Leaders who are willing to staff it) but maybe this line has trouble
getting volunteers because it is so gruelling to get these calls all night
long.

Encouraging moms to own a good breastfeeding and mothering book is one way
to help them through those middle of the night crisises.

Just my 2 cents worth. --Kathy Eng
