Hi, I'm Robin Musial a registered nurse and certified lactation consultant
living and working in Columbus Indiana. I work as a lactation consultant for
the local hospital. I have subscribed to Lactnet off and on for several
years.(Off when the volume of posts overwhelms me, and on when I feel I can
handle it better.) Have currently be lurking for the past several months
but need some help from the masses.

In our hospital setting we are having a discussion about when to discard the
EBM and powdered human milk fortifier mixture. I have nurse who practices
at another facility and that facility mixes up a big batch of EBM and HMF
and they use it for 24 hours. In the back of my mind I thought that I had
heard at a conference that we needed to be mixing and using only what we
need for that feeding (not to make a large batch ahead of time.) I can not
seem to find this information anywhere. I would appreciate any insight and
direction to references one way of the other.
I apologize if this issue has been brought up in the past year. I have
attempted to search the archieves but I haven't had much luck because of the
way our hospital sends out going mail.

Thanks in advance...
