Would it be terribly inappropriate of the LC (if those are the right initials, and forgive me if they aren't, I am not taking time to check in the original post) to ask the mother if they could have a 3 way conference-- mother, LC and medical practitioner? Then some of the unanswered questions could be answered-- or at least asked!
I am not versed in the surgical procedure for pacemaker installation, but when my father in law had one replaced after an infection around the first one, he was in surgery for many hours with his chest open. He was not the bosomy sort. Had he been an actively lactating woman I can imagine the practical problems this would have posed for the surgical team. Are the procedures that different in the US?
