Ah, formula is always best, isn't it?  Why not just give the baby more
calories.  You know, like more fatty foods.  Add butter to his solids,
or olive oil, or whatever. If the baby were on formula, they would add
calories to the baby's formula, fat, for example.  Why formula at nine
months anyways?  Homogenized milk could be added to solids, but why
not, just fat?

The other problem is that the heart defect is possibly responsible for
the poor weight gain.  Poor weight gain in the presence of a good
intake of calories is often an indication for surgery to correct the
defect.
