Yes, I love the Red Cross Food and Water in an Emergency because it is so
incredibly bad and I have used it at numerous conferences as an example of
how perverted some Western cultures are when it comes to infant feeding.
Infant formula is deemed to provide food insecurity and breastfeeding is
insecure (and fragile). The overwhelming evidence is that formula fed babies
are very vulnerable in any emergency because they lack food security
(couldn't get more narrow requirements for their needs) amongst other
reasons.
Ann, are you aware is anyone has actually taken up this issue with Red
Cross??
Ya know the US is influential. I discovered the other day that Australia's
flu pandemic preparedness plan has cut and pasted info on preparing for a
pandemic from a US govt source and of course the only mention with regards
infants is that infant formula should be stored.
