Hello, my name is Debra Vander Weit.  I am the one who posted about a six
week old baby becoming fussy at the breast. Just to clarify, I do not visit
mothers at home.  The mothers see me at what we call MOMMIES place.  This is
a part of the hospital I work at.  It is part of our follow-up care.  Mostly
I do routine repeat infant screenings and help mothers figure out how to get
baby latched on to the brest after the milk has come in, and show them how to
give sponge baths, and how to change a diaper,  and even how to mix formula
if that is how they so choose to feed their babies, etc...  As you know, most
moms go home from the hospital prior to the full milk coming in, and this
happens to be a lot of what I am helping moms cope with.   I also do a lot of
referring to Pediatricians and OB's when  I see anything unusual.  I also do
a lot of referring to a local Lactation consultant  who is certified
(including this mother).
       What has happened is I had a mom call , whom I had seen  at 5 days
post partum.  The baby is now six weeks old.    I have a certified lactation
consultant at my hospital but she is not currently operating in that capacity
(although within the month she will be).  I did speak to her about this
particular mom also.    I just thought I may increase my knowledge base by
posting  my question on Lactnet.   I have seen other such postings.
   Perhaps I have posted some questions which seem "very basic,"  to most of
you.   I  appreciate all of you who have made  suggestions of different
resources I can use.
