This is a very nice article about bf toddlers by Joanna Moorhead, who
bf her first up to 3 and a half, inc during pg, and then her second
to mursery school age (tandem feeding) and she is still bf her third
at 19 months whenever she wants. She does it because she and her kids
like it, and she doesn't see any reason to stop - and she is frank
about the fact she knows other people think she is odd.

It makes a change to see a postive bf article in the Guardian. There
is a history of really hostile columns and features about bf there -
a year ago, columnist Juile Birchill was given 1200 w to rail against
bf and those who support it in a highly offensive way.

It is notable that nowhere does Joanna Moorhead criticise formula or
formula feeders .

This is something I have noticed myself - anti-bf writing almost
always hurls deeply unpleasant insults at women who choose to bf, and
denigrates breastmilk. The oppposite is never done when people write
about bf. The idea that breastfeeding mothers and breastfeeding
supporters are somehow hurtful to formula feeders just does not stand
up when you look at media representation, at least.
