Hi everyone -- sorry for the cross post, but I need an answer ASAP. I just got a call from our Foster/Adopt worker. She'd like us to take a foster placement of a child who has been exposed to the flu but is currently asymptomatic.

Anyone know what the incubation period is assumed to be for the strain we're seeing this year?

Sadly I seldom keep up with this sort of information. I don't want to get immunized and I also don't want to get the flu (nor do I want anyone else in my home to get sick!). Nor do I want any of the families I work with to be put at risk.

TIA,
Dawn Martin, CD (DONA), IBCLC
Austin, TX
