Help please....... I have been challenged recently with helping several
women with very large breasts to breastfeed their newborns. These women
were also obese with large postpartum (Caesarean) stomachs and very small
hands! The nipples were all at the level of where the waist should be and
most pointed due South. Getting both the mother and baby comfortably
positioned was not easy. Side lying was not an option post Caesarean and
the clutch (football) hold was used. A rolled up blanket under the breast
helped somewhat. These women are so awkward and I feel at a loss how to
help them self-attach their babies. I am looking for suggestions -
especially for the first two or three days after birth.
Many thanks.
