Yep, Denise! That's what they were doing! What a knee-jerk reaction. I did point out to them the error of their thinking...one can do that with resident physicians. I'll bet they'll think twice next time!

Oh Holly honestly - let me guess, they were worried expressing might put 

her into labour .... hang on, weren't they inducing her?? Obviously 

someone who has no concept of the pain of engorgement!

> I don't have the link, but I work in a hospital that has a high risk antenatal wing and I have seen this occasionally. Often the patients present with clinical engorgement. We had a pt. Last week who was preeclamptic and they were inducing her. She was engorged and wanted to pump for relief, and our residents told her that it wasn't a good idea!
