Dealing with a troublesome situation right now and have had similar situations in the past; am really at a loss and hoping the fabulous Lactnet community can provide some insight.

I do have permission from this current mom to post, but for now will keep the scenario somewhat generic (for now).
I am in a (surgical level) NICU setting, we often have baby's with 'ostomies.
Some of these babes start "dumping" from their 'ostomies (even though they are not high in the intestinal tract)
They require replacement fluids via IV and have poor growth.
If they have been on Own Mother's Milk (OMM) they often get taken off OMM and placed on some type of elemental formula.
I do get some input into care plans and today a few of us were speculating is there something that helps to slow down gut motility (other then narcotics and MCT oil)???
Does anyone else out there deal with similar situations?
(no pun intended) but these situations create a very negative gut reaction for me.

Any insight appreciated.
