I wonder if anyone has thought of culturing breastmilk with a kefir culture
and giving that to babies.  I made kefir from goat's milk recently.  It was
delicious, and just as good as the storebought variety.  Actually better
since I used whole, fresh milk.  I brought it to a near boil, cooled it,
added the powdered culture, and set it a room temp for about 6 hours.
Voila!  Now you might be leary of this in the NICU, but when babies come
home, it certainly could be done safely.
