Dear Laurie,
If you have them written already, and the green light to use them,
go ahead and try it! It may serve as an educational tool for the nursing
staff, and help some moms get a good breastfeeding start too.
Hopefully someday soon you will have the green light to change
policies and give staff inservices.
I, too, work in a big bottle feeding environment, in an inner city
hospital. Wasn't there a sesame street character who sang, "It's not
easy being me"? Remember the small successes with moms and sharing times
with staff!!!!
I got a casual LC job last spring in a suburban hospital that is the
breastfeeding garden of Eden!! The delightful LC there is writing up her
story for Clinical Issues. We go out to dinner once a month now, what a
treat!
Hang in there, all the health facts are on your side.
