I use one of 2 methods.
1-I have Lactnet in my contact list and post like sending any e-mail.  I just make sure the subject line is the same wording as in the digest.
2-Hit "reply" and most important-"ERASE" ALL THE MATERIAL FROM THE DIGEST EXCEPT THE PART YOU ARE REPLYING TO! Then write your reply and send.  Please, please please be sure to erase all the info from the digest that does not relate to the post to which you are responding.  Too many do not do this resulting in long repeats of extraneous material.
