I was reading Working Mother today at the orthodontist's office and it was
FULL of formula ads, mostly C-----------. But one was for this new nipple
and bottle. It says: "Because Breast Feeding is Best, there's
Av---...naturally. Now, a bottle feeding system so natural, baby will find
it hard to tell the difference. Nothing can beat Mother Nature, but the
Av--- Natural Feeding Bottle comes as close as humanly possible. It's a
unique system that makes feeding time a more enjoyable, and healthful,
experience for mother and baby. Best for baby. At the heart of the system
is the revolutionary Av--- nipple. Made of 100% silicone, its patented
one-way air valve and anti-collapse tip combine to encourage vigorous
sucking and continuous liquid flow at a rate baby controls by natural
reflex. So for baby, switching between breast and bottle is effortless. As
important, Av--- is the only system medically proven to reduce colic in the
newborn. Studies show the unique Av--- system more closely mimics the
breast in reducing post-feeding colic, especially when compared to
conventional bottle-fed babies." It goes on.
I'm going to call the 800 number 1-800-542-8368 and ask them where these
medical studies have been published. And the photo of the bottle sure makes
it look like the baby has to compress near the tip, which would then make it
very painful for mother to switch back to breastfeeding. Also, am I being
dense, why does it follow logically that "because breast feeding is best,
there's Av---...naturally"?
