Cathy,

Regarding how to calibrate Tanita BLB-12 scales or any of Tanita's professional baby scales, I've just checked Tanita's website for their weight for calibrating baby scales, but did not readily find this weight, nor did I readily find the Tanita BLB-12 scale that you referenced.

Here is a link to their website and the page on their current professional baby scales. This page includes a link for each scale's product guide (I would think that calibration information would be listed in the product guide for each model).

For questions on how to calibrate Tanita scales through their customer service department:
http://www.tanita.com/contact-us/

Tanita is an international company, and their scales have a strong reputation for accuracy. Although it's been a while since I last contacted Tanita's customer service department, I do recall finding their staff friendly and professional.
