If the baby breastfeeds with a good deep latch, and has strong enough
tongue function to press the breast against the palate, the palate shape
can change quickly, in as little as a week in a young baby.

Most reflexes don't really "disappear", they get outgrown as they are
incorporated into voluntary movement patterns that they often form the
basis of. If reflexes are not becoming volitional, this could possibly
signal that the baby's neuromotor development is delayed. I'm sure the
OT's and PT's on the list can explain this better than I can, I have
just a rudimentary understanding of the issue.
