I posted a similar question recently and have received only one serious
reply.  I have a 35 y.o. in a very similar situation.  Given the option
of treating with fosomax (?) and not breastfeeding, she continue of
breastfeed and will be treating with weight bearing exercise, dietary
changes and large doses of calcium supplements.

However, we are still left with the question of how this condition comes
about.  My client has been pregnant or breastfeeding or both for five
years.  No knowledge or discovery of bone density problems prior to
that.  No history of anorexia or bulimia.

I am curious how much each of you have come across osteoporosis in
lactating women in their thirties and whether you know of other theories
of causation than breastfeeding.
