My understanding is that what is marketed (in the UK, at least) as a
'stage 1' formula is whey dominant, and the ratio mimics breastmilk.
So-called 'stage 2' milks, often marketed as being 'for hungrier
babies' but also given from birth, are casein-dominant, and yes,
reputedly send babies to sleep.

It's not that the babies are more 'satisfied' on this milk, but in
effect, their milk has pharmacologically sedated them.

I don't think, somehow, that this would be a slogan that milk
manufacturers would like to adopt - 'HappiMilk Stage 2 - complete
with its own in-built sleeping pill for a longer, drugged-up sleep!
- though it would be an honest description.
