I have never seen mentioned on Lactnet about "softcups" by M*d*l*
Forgive me if I am putting my foot into something that has already been
discussed. I have found out that nursing staff have to be weaned as much
as babies do - when I started in the ward I stopped the bottles (war) and
started to use "softcups" which give out a measured amount of milk and there
is no nipple confusion. There extra feeds have been drastically cut back
but are still being given especially at night. I would highly recommend
that if your problems are bottles try swopping to "softcups" and start the
weaning process.
I recall a couple weeks back that I think, Sandy Hess said that she
was prepared to relactate to nurse her grandchildren. Sandy, I laughed and
laughed - show it to my 18 year-old son whose comment was "You'd do the same
Mum". I was late picking him up after counselling a mother and apologised
profusely - he gave me "that" look and said "So ..... did she have flat
nipples, cracked nipples or engorgement?" I was flabbergasted and loved
it - he knows about breastfeeding!!!
