Dear Jean, I appreciated your post on br. pain as I have consulted with 3
moms over the last 2 wks with the same complaint!  All 3 are 3 wks or more
postpartum, have been nursing all along; 2 without or with minimal supps, one
supplementing q fd, till this eve when I saw her. The first 2 have bilateral
br. pain throughout fd. but peaks '"a few minutes" after feed. One has nipple
pain with small crack on left side only, the third has sl inflamed nipples, L
>R, with L br. pain greater than R as well.  With all 3 the breast pain
(vs.nipple) is the most impactful and peaks several minutes after the feed. I
have suggested Rx with diflucan for the first 2, after 3 days on ibuprofen
and improvements made with consult with little change. With the third I again
suggested ibuprofen for 3 days and initiation of changes made with consult
ie. positioning etc, will reevalutate at that time. None of the women have
excessive amts. of milk-a little frustrating to say the least!
