This is not a flame, just an observation and then some comments. On the
one hand you are saying perhaps lack of attachment parenting leads to
this kind of horrible violence, and on the other hand you are saying
that these families w/ multiples might benefit from some of these
structured (ezzo) programs. Am I reading you right? Note that the
incident you reported involved TWINS.
I agree that a family with 6 kids, 4 of them quads, is going to be run a
little different than most. But geesh it sounds too easy! The kids don't
make a peep when they go out? The parents even have an evening out,
leaving the 12 y.o. to babysit! The kids sleep sometimes 630 p to 900a!
This sounds like depression to me! There needs to be some middle ground
to allow for some scheduling but still lots of attachment parenting. At
least if other babies are not bf, they are still getting held
(hopefully) when fed.
You are right there needs to be lots of counseling about this when the
infertility tx may lead to higher risk of multiple births. When families
go into this tx, they should be able to have a plan/resources for caring
for the babies properly.
Now I certainly am sensitive to infertility issues. My brother and his
wife are so far unsuccessful after 15 yrs! However I cannot see how it
is fair to these babies to get 4 meals a day w/ a podee bottle and then
sleep 14 hrs at nite. Where is the contact and interaction with the
other family members? Even occasional bf of each one would provide this.
