I'd love to know when was the last time anyone in the U.S. of A. saw a normal
BIRTH in a hospital.....and if you don't have a normal BIRTH, I don't think
you can have a normal newborn.

This is about as close as I get low these last few decades: one of the new
mom/dad/baby families I saw this week, the parents spoke of how very much the <
24 hr old baby was breastfeeding, ....mom alert, mobile, smiling, ......latch
great, ....frequency, ....duration, .....breast filling, ......., all going so
much better than parents had expected, ......

..... during the breast check I make some positive comments about how nicely
moms' nipples were protractile/areola graspable, drops expressed, and this is
good because sometimes the IV fluids given in L&D can blah blah blah, moms
quickly interjects; no IV fluids, no pit, no epidural, ....Really?!? I happily
say, and comment about how well things are going, ....still parents ask about
the need for supplementing (!), I stifle my "lord have mercy" expression, and
outline again how well it's going and why......................

.....and I cannot resist admitting to them that way too much of my job
relates to overcoming L&D events/interventions that negatively impact BF....
