I've been skimming these posts as a sort of curiosity; where I live,
'hands-free' applies only to cell phone use while driving. Then I started
to take in what is really being said here. We in Scandinavia tend to laugh
at the gadgetry, special clothing, blankets, cooler bags, etc. marketed to
breastfeeding mothers in the US. It really is no laughing matter. That
women are resourceful enough to keep their jobs while finding ways to
express milk for their children even though their breaks are scarcely long
enough to eat their own lunch on, is awesome.

It is just another tribute to the capacity of mothers, but it should be an
embarrassment to employees' organizations and to legislators at every level
of government, that US women in 2002 are forced to be so inventive in order
to accomplish what should be their, and their childrens' right to breastfeed
and be breastfed.

I don't think Norwegian women appreciate the obstacles faced by their
counterparts in other places. I'm going to write something about this for
our BF mothers' newsletter, and it won't be a comic piece.
