I have the same concerns as Susanna about orthodontics and breastfeeding. It
would be great if it were true that breastfeeding could prevent all of need of
orthodontics, but my 3rd breastfed child gets his jaw expander today and his
braces for a crossbite in a couple months. Maybe things would have been much
worse had he not nursed. We don't need to look at every child with braces or
other appliances and think "Should have been nursed...longer or better". I
have enough to contend with keeping my little guy comfortable with all that
metal in his mouth and the thousands of dollars this is going to cost without
wondering if I should or could have nursed differently to make this
unnecessary.
